Welcome to Software Epiphany

This web site is dedicated to the discussion of the foundations, principles and paradigms relating to software development, engineering and architecture. It is hoped that it will do its small share in increasing awareness of the importance (and even urgency) of software quality in the 21st Century and the realization of software as the next "New Frontier."

Software Epiphany
... is that portion of a system which realizes the mutable aspects of the system in which it is contained.

The New Frontier

... is the sudden realization or comprehension of the true meaning and significance of a principle or concept.

Bringing forth the next evolution of civilization.

The Forth Wave

Alvin Toffler in his book The Third wave - Bantam Books (April, 1981) touches on the impact that computers will have on civilization. We believe the impact on civilization that software and, in general, information processing systems will have will be far greater in the next century than initially thought. And potentially far more dangerous then we seem to be prepared for.

It is in this context the we strive to discuss the issues that will help us better reach levels of quality never before attempted in human history. And it is in this context that we measure the results of our peers in their attempt to push the edge of the envelope in software arts & sciences.
